So it happened, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris took their respective offices and now they’re absolutely in charge of this federal government.
Now it’s a different kind of hangover altogether.
I love politics. I love the arguments, the one-upsmanship, the achievement, the fighting. It’s truly more entertaining to me than almost any kind of scripted entertainment. Real life people are either the beneficiaries or the victims of the decisions that get made. I feel like we’re back in the business of creating beneficiaries.
It’s hard to feel any actual feeling right now. I for one am grateful that Trump and his basket of fools are mostly purged from any kind of decision-making that anymore affect the body politic. I’m trying to let the feeling of optimism back in my life as it relates to national politics. I mean, the Liberals won for the most part. They usually make much better decisions when they’re in charge. This isn’t 100%, but much better than the party of no actual platform which the Republicans currently represent. Seems like it’ll take at least a few weeks to have fully-formed feelings about all of this.
So I’ll be sharing some half-formed thoughts and piecemeal opinions in going forward. Might be a few times a day, or once a week, or whatever frequency that the current world allows me to get away with. This isn’t the kind of hangover that you treat by simple hydration and the downing of a big breakfast. This hangover comes with the many stages of grief, you know? We’ve just been through more than a few national traumas with Donald Trump at the helm.
I thank you for your readership, and can’t wait to see what’s next.
